I would have give Meridian a 5 except for two factors. One, the underwriters kept asking for additional paperwork which seemed to be overkill and prolonged the closing for two weeks. The other factor was, in my opinion, one of the representatives was e extremely weak in customer service.

I was very pleased with the professional and friendly service I received from your associates. The only point for improvement that I can share with you is to update creditor payoffs before the finale discloser and closing. As a veteran, I have found that Meridian Home Mortgage offered far better value that New Day 100 and other mortgage companies that seek to serve veterans.

When I say the pleasure was mine working with Meridian, please believe me. Upon completing Mortuary School & National Boards, with an unpaid Apprenticeship, high credit card balances, with unreasonable interest rates were created. With Meridian’s Home Redinance Program, I was able to rid those high interest rates, and accomplish a fairly fresh start. It’s so liberating! I had a difficult refinance- apparently, timing was off or on depending on how you look at it (tax payment due). Had to re-submit paperwork multiple times, and one department didn’t know the previous department already requested the same documentation. Then I had to prove I had the closing cost monies a couple of times, by running to my bank for “legit” statements. Took over 3 months to get this re-finance completed- but its done. I would have rated my experience lower due to the underwriting process alone. However Ed and Greg kept me informed and in the loop and explained the delays to me. They are great at what they do. Overall the experience was not a pleasant one, but in the end it’s a mortgage- never meant to be pleasant.

WOW! I don’t even know how to put this experience into words. It was wonderful. Jim, Carla, Ed and Phil were amazing to work with. From the beginning of my loan to the end, I felt like they were my friends and had my best interests first. They also were all sure to let me know about each process, the length of time it can take and the worst case scenario which was information I was happy to receive. All in all, they all did an amazing job and got me through a refinance that I thought would never be possible. It was SO fast too! I expected it to take maybe 2 months to get everything through and the actual start to finish was about 33 days. I’m still in disbelief that everything’s done, completed and I’m able to start a new chapter with a healthy amount of debt and very merry Christmas! Thank you so much to all of you who took part in my refinance, I’m just so thankful that you were able to make something work with my situation. I can breathe again! Woo hoo!

I couldn’t be happier about the quick processing for our refinance – we applied around October 17 and closed on November 29. This is unheard of, and we had a VA loan too! I had a phone call or an email almost every day reminding us of what was needed; scanning & uploading our completed docs to Meridian made everything very simple. We closed at our house – what could be nicer? My rating is 4.75 for this company. I deduct a quarter of “star” because there was a not-so-little mistake on a (pre)closing disclosure where it was indicated that our loan would not have an escrow account for taxes & insurance. I wanted this corrected then & there, but the processor wouldn’t correct it before the closing (although he assured me verbally that the loan would have an escrow). It wasn’t that I didn’t believe him, but I preferred to have the document corrected; however he said doing so would deIay the closing. It was a tough couple of days, waiting for the closing to assure myself that this document, which we re-signed, DID indicate there would be an escrow account for taxes & insurance. Also, connected to closing, I was first told (when I scheduled the date) that funds would be wired to our account & we’d write the checks to pay off the creditors. But on the day of closing, I was told (via telephone call) no, checks would be cut by the lender & Fed Ex’d to us. It wasn’t until I reached the closing table that I realized we actually had a choice. (By that point, we just decided to stick to Fed Ex’d checks.) The last man I spoke to from Meridian, the one who called me on the day of closing about the financial adjustments, was curt & abrupt, and he didn’t explain about the choice of wiring funds. By contrast, every single person I spoke with prior to that point was a sweetheart – helpful, informed, patient & courteous. Other than the above, which I guess I would call “last minute anxieties” I would recommend this company for a refinance. I almost hated writing about the last-minute stuff because my experience was definitely A++ until just that point.

Everyone I dealt with through this process was great. My only wish is that the process was more concise. I realize there are many i’s to dot and t’s to cross in a home mortgage, but that would be my suggestion. Look to improve the simplicity of the process because every other aspect was great!

The process took about 6 weeks and seemed somewhat disjointed as I transitioned from one department to the next. I always had the number to call my case handler. Overall, professional and courteous persons contacted me throughout. Most individuals were informed and proficient.

Somewhat of a different approach, with being passed on from department to department, but the flow and transitions were seamless. Most of the follow-up and notifications were timely. Total time from initial contact to closure of a VA Refi was 7 weeks, and all of my documentation was turned in no later than the day after the request. I was hoping to complete in less than 2 months and that was achieved. Thanks Philip, Shane, Kat, Barb!

Overall the experience was good, people were knowledgeable and helpful and the fact that I was able to secure a new mortgage in my current situation was helpful and appreciated. Would like to see lower fees on that transaction, felt like some of the equity in my home was eaten up by fees. Still, would recommend them to future applicants.

Hi , this was by far the best mortgage I ever did , I have owned 6 homes in my lifetime . Hats of to you staff JoAnn Harris and Matt Warner , they kept me informed every step of the way , even had a hurricane happen the week of my closing , thank goodness we missed it . Your staff are the very best down to earth people I have worked with would recommend them highly . I do not due many reviews but this is one I enjoyed to do GREAT COMPANY THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!

Overall, very satisfied with the service. Would have given 5 stars except that in the end checks to credit card companies were made to accounts that were already closed. Would not re-issue checks to open accounts. Bit of a pain. Surprised in the lack of sympathy from folks who had otherwise been good to work with.
